Dos Lomitas Ranch
Lukeville, Arizona, United States

A tribute to the early 20th century heyday of cattle ranching in southern Arizona, the Dos Lomitas Ranch House is one of only a few buildings that is left standing today. Built in 1914, the main ranch house is a rare example of a Sonoran traditional ranch house, which is characterized by thick adobe walls, a beamed ceiling, a flat roof, and a floor of packed earth, laid out in an L-form. While this type of ranching was an extremely tough lifestyle, the ranch was ultimately done in by the creation of the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, as well as tightening security on both sides of the US-Mexico border.
