Kansas - Missouri - Oklahoma Triple Point
BAXTER SPRINGS, KS – The triple point is one of the few points in Oklahoma where the only access is from Kansas. If you drive either Route 66 or I-44 through the Joplin area, you will pass within a couple hundred yards of the triple point. The original monument was a large stone structure, but the area was resurveyed in 2004 and the original monument ended up being about 40 feet out of place, so the new marker is a concrete placard in the middle of a dirt road. This is the second triple point I've visited in Oklahoma (I also visited the Preston Monument in the NW corner of the panhandle), and I am now planning to visit the rest of them.
