Kansas-Missouri-Oklahoma Triple Point

Baxter Springs, Kansas, United States

24 July, 2013

The triple point is one of the few points in Oklahoma where the only access is from Kansas. If you drive either Route 66 or I-44 through the Joplin area, you will pass within a couple hundred yards of the triple point. The original monument was a large stone structure, but the area was resurveyed in 2004 and the original monument ended up being about 40 feet out of place, so the new marker is a concrete placard in the middle of a dirt road. This is the second triple point I've visited in Oklahoma (I also visited the Preston Monument in the NW corner of the panhandle), and I am now planning to visit the rest of them.
