Dry Cimarron Highway
Folsom, New Mexico, United States
29 June, 2012
One of the most unique and spectacular drives I've ever made, the Dry Cimarron Highway, which spans a 50-mile stretch from Folsom, NM to Kenton, OK, will send you back in time. The road runs close to both the original Santa Fe Trail (you can still see the original wagon ruts) and the Dry Cimarron River. A 17-mile stretch of the highway that still has yet to be paved only adds to the "authentic" experience. The mile marker signs are about the only evidence of modernization.
