Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada

20 August, 2019

Originally built as a temporary lock during World War I due to a shortage of man power to build the permanent lock, the Big Chute Marine Railway was originally commissioned in 1917. The original carriage could only hold boats up to 35 feet, while the current carriage, which was commissioned in 2003, can carry boats up to 60 feet. The railway is operated by Parks Canada.
