Oregon Trail Wagon Ruts
Brule, Nebraska, United States
3 December, 2021
Travel across Nebraska on the same trail emigrants traversed on their way to a better life further west. Start your journey recharging at Fort Kearny before tackling the first major ascent of the Oregon Trail: California Hill. Rising 250 feet in a mile and a half, wagon ruts are still clearly visible on the hill over 150 years later. After a harrowing descent down Windlass Hill, stop at Ash Hollow Spring to catch your breath. Then, pass by some of the most famous landmarks on the Oregon Trail. Take in a spectacular birds eye view of the prairie from the base of Courthouse and Jail Rock before catching the warm golden late afternoon sun on Chimney Rock. End your journey across Nebraska catching the sunset at Scotts Bluff National Monument, just a stone's throw from the Wyoming border.
