Le Haut St. Laurent, Québec, Canada

Travel back to the only time in history the United States and Canada actively engaged in on-the-battlefield combat against each other. On 26 October, 1813, American troops from New York invaded Québec with the goal of capturing Montréal and cutting off the St. Lawrence River, which was the primary British supply route into Canada during the War of 1812. The site of La Bataille de la Châteauguay (the Battle of the Châteauguay) is where a grossly outnumbered British and Canadian army used a patchwork of militiamen, Native American warriors, and volunteers to turn back multiple American advances and send them running back to New York with their tails between their legs.
