It's one of southern Africa's best-kept secrets, a sight the world's best wildlife photographers dream of witnessing. Every October and November, up to 10 million fruit bats emerge from the Congo and descend on Zambia's Kasanka National Park as they migrate south for the Southern Hemisphere summer. The largest mammal migration in the world, the nightly bat emergences are one of the most spectacular natural phenomena you will ever see! We're traveling with Merlin Tuttle's Bat Conservation to research the state of Kasanka's bats and discover what more we can do to protect them. All bat handlers you see in this series are professionally trained.
